FAQ’s

Do I need to go to my doctor first before coming to physiotherapy?

No, you don’t need a referral to come to physiotherapy. If ACC related you can fill out all the required forms with us.

Is there a surcharge?

As of November ’09 ACC is now only subsidizing 2/3 of your treatment cost. There is therefore a small surcharge ($22 for the initial assessment, $13 for follow up appointments).

What if it’s not an ACC injury?

We are more than happy to treat private patients. This may include chronic or overuse type injuries or pre/post operation rehabilitation.

What is needed to be covered by ACC and what if ACC doesn’t accept my claim?

As long as you can attribute your injury to an accident involving an external force your claim should be covered by ACC. If your claim is declined unfortunately you will have to pay a private charge.

Do you sell exercise products?

Yes we have a wide range of products such as ankle, knee, back, shoulder and wrist braces, lumbar and cervical rolls,  strapping tapes, exercise bands and books such as: McKenzie Treat your own Back, Treat your own neck, The pain survival guide. If we don’t stock something we are more than happy to order it in for you. Please contact us for further information on products and pricing if not listed here.

Do your physiotherapists perform acupuncture and manipulation (as per a chiropractor)?

Yes, we have trained physiotherapists with additional post graduate qualifications to perform these techniques when appropriate.

I have a game/training coming up, can I just come in to get strapped?

Yes. We are more than happy to provide a strapping service, there will just be a small materials charge.

What happens when I come in for my first appointment?

Your first appointment will include an interview and a physical examination to establish the nature of your current condition. Our physio will discuss the likely treatment, outcomes and time frames with you before treatment commences and as the program progresses.

What if I need to change/cancel my appointment?

If you are unavoidably delayed for your appointment, please let us know as soon as you can, as it helps to plan the remainder of the day. We ask that a cancelled appointment be done so 12 hours in advance, otherwise a cancellation fee of $20 is charged.

What if I need to see a specialist or have further scans done?

We have a close working relationship with many specialists and surgeons we can refer you onto if we feel necessary or you would like a second opinion. As physiotherapists we can also refer for X-Rays and ultrasound scans if required.
